Meet St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster

Posted by Tom Broderick in Event , CBMC Tampa

Mayor Rick Baker introduced me to Bill Foster prior to the last mayoral election.  I had known Mayor Baker and his family for many years by then. I respected Mayor Baker for his integrity and his spiritual values. When he endorsed Bill Foster during the Foster candidacy for mayor, I listened. It was then that I became involved with the Foster election process as a volunteer.

Every time I would see Bill Foster and heard him in conversations or presentations I felt even stronger that he was the right person to be our St. Petersburg mayor. It was a tough race, but he was successful. I believe that his faith sustained him throughout.  Whenever I would see him after his election I would tell him that he was in my thoughts and prayers. He always responded with words of thanks and affirmed that he really felt the prayers of our people. It is great to realize that our mayor has such an awareness of and faith in the Lord. He wants nothing but the best for St. Petersburg and entire Bay Area.

When I asked him if he would speak at our annual CBMC Gathering of Men dinner, he gladly accepted.  For those of you who have not had the chance to meet this remarkable man, you're invited to attend our event on January 17.  You can find out more information and purchase tickets here:  http://www.eventbrite.com/event/2701681803

Post Game Report

Posted by Dan Shock in Untagged

TBLPB CommitteeWe dedicate our efforts to our Lord & Savior - Jesus Christ. We recorded 102 new decisions for Him and 101 re-dedications!  We now begin the followup process and will be in communication with assistant coaches to begin getting these folks "plugged in." Discipleship is now our critical focus.  Thank you, thank you, thank you to our 2011 Prayer Breakfast Committe (at right) for all the hard work to pull this event off.

As far as vendors go I can think of no better photographer than MamaRazzi  , no better dentist than Dr. Terry Buckenheimer, NO BETTER EXPERT WEB MARKETER AND DESIGNER THAN Tom & Elizabeth Behrens at BUILDASMARTER.com, no better estate attorney that Jean Owens, no better Christian legal advice than David Gibbs Law Firm and the Christian Law Association, no better printer than MLI Integrated Solutions - Martin Saavedra and no better CPA than Ferlita, Walsh and Gonzalez.

Let's honor these folks who devoted so much time and effort to our success with a chance at some business. Selfishly, investments/insurance/health benefits are me, Bill Martin and Tom Loughlin & Rob Coleman firms abilities (see IFSpartners.com) . I'm sure each of the above would consider it an honor to serve each other professionally.

Ed Kobel of DeBartolo Development selflessly devoted an executive board room to our committee for an entire year. His Thursday downtown lunch meetings (See ReNew)   are becoming the spot for the downtown Christian to begin a discipleship lunch ministry with Rev. Jay Lippy.

Dave Dunkel again stepped up to the plate with a platinum sponsorship from KFORCE as well as dedicated his training facility for our assistant coach training.  Jerry Batista and the Wildmen of Grace Family Church in Lutz showed up in force to serve as ushers and assistant coaches. What a ministry! Check it out on Tuesday nights if you want to see what vibrant men's ministry is all about!

Andrew Prilliman of the National Christian Foundation (charitable planning) again stepped up to the plate with a host of sponsorships, encouragement and assistant coaches. Well done! Tim Curtis -like Andrew- was another former USMC marine who provided music through the group - Steadfast 190 and served countless hours and years on our planning committee.

WTBN radio was a solid partner with radio spots, encouragement and prayer. Chris Gould is finely placed to head this ministry radio station.   Overflow magazine proved to be a refreshing new addition to our team as well. I'm looking forward to future editions from Chris Cherp.

Please forgive me if I forgot anyone.  All glory majesty praise and honor go to my Lord Jesus for saving me and allowing me to serve in this capacity.

In His Grip,

Dan Shock
Chairman (Retired)

Assistant Coach Jess

Posted by Administrator in Untagged

"I’m really looking forward to this event and am truly grateful that you got me involved. I’ve been really surprised at the genuine enthusiasm my players have shown in looking forward to the breakfast – one of them, who is not very religious at all, just started a 100-day Bible reading plan today. God is already doing some great things. My table is B10, and I’ll see you there."

Benefits of Getting Involved

Posted by Administrator in Untagged

"Last year I became aware of the Tampa Bay Prayer Breakfast through my relationship with individuals who were part of the Lifework Leadership Program. I later heard Dan Shock’s testimony and decided to get involved with CBMC and become a Table Sponsor.

I realized that I don’t associate with that many non-believers. So I invited gentlemen with whom I surround myself in business (my accountant, stock broker, insurance agent, dental lab man, and other associates). I thought I was doing it this way because it was easier for me. But the Lord had other reasons. Several of the people at my table either accepted Christ or reconfirmed their faith during the event. My relationship with them now has new meaning. Our walk with Christ is no longer a quiet part of our interaction.

We all know the importance of our walk with the Lord and are living our life to further His kingdom rather than just living our business life separate from Him. It has been such a blessing and is why I have become more involved this year. Plus, Coach Joe Gibbs is a blessing! Listening to him confirms the fact that we are all children of God and need that personal relationship and commitment to Christ in order to fulfill our purpose in life.  I know this Prayer Breakfast will add new meaning to everyone’s life."

The Power of One Invitation

Posted by Ralph Cardenas in Untagged

As far back as I can remember, I was always in love with the city of New York. New York embodied all of which I had dreamed. A real place where one could turn dreams into reality. Develop, be sophisticated, make lots of money, rub elbows with people who where somebody, and in the process, maybe become a somebody as well. A wonderful physical transformation, if you may.

We have all heard that evil exists, that cold is real, and that darkness is also real.  I beg to differ.  Darkness is simply the absence of light. Cold...the absence of heat, and evil; the absence of God. I lived in all three stages for 46 years. One day after having moved to Tampa, I was invited to a breakfast where supposedly I would meet lots of people that would enhance my business. I gladly accepted the invitation, and prepared myself for this heaven sent opportunity. And it was !

Somehow in the course of the main speaker's oratory, I went from darkness to light..., from cold to warm heat...,and from evil, to the welcoming arms of my creator. Because of it, I met a group of men who had been where I was, and who welcomed me as a long lost friend, and who have been instrumental in the best transformation a human being could ever desire. For this, I owe CBMC a debt of gratitude; and to GOD...my life.
