Hosted by Tampa Bay Business Leaders, and the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Christian Business Men’s Committee (CBMC), this event has been endorsed by organizations such as the Tampa Chamber of Commerce, the Tampa Mayor’s Office, and the City of Clearwater Mayor’s Office, and the St. Petersburg Mayor's Office,  During Dick Greco’s first term as mayor of Tampa in 1971, this prayer breakfast has been celebrated in Tampa. It originally was known as the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast, and more recently it became the Tampa Bay Leadership Prayer Breakfast to better reflect our community and our outreach efforts to the entire Tampa Bay area.

Our purpose is to pray, as a community, for those in authority (2 Timothy 2:2) and to reach out with the gospel to those who might not hear it in another way. It is really an outreach breakfast seeking to share the message of Jesus Christ.

In the past, the event has featured many prominent national speakers from the business political and sports arenas. Chuck Colson, Adolph Coors IV, Senator Philpott, Bud Paxson, John Sykes, Charlie “Tremendous” Jones, author John Beckett, Pat Williams, Truett Cathy, David Dunkel, Norm Miller, Luis Palau, Wayne Huizenga, Jr, and most recently Joe Gibbs have graced the podium with personal testimonies to the power that faith has in their leadership roles.

It is impossible to measure the impact, but we know that thousands of lives have been changed as a result of this breakfast event, including many prominent civic leaders. In addition, we strive to see that everyone reached by the message receives a follow-up visit and is invited to a discipleship program or directed to a local church that can meet their needs.

The Tampa Bay Leadership Prayer Breakfast is NOT a fund raising event, but rather an unusual opportunity to gain a glimpse into lives that have been touched and changed by the gift of salvation.  No matter who the speaker may be, the message is sure to be compelling, convicting, and inspiring.
